Ready for the Rain to Start Fallin'

Our two maple trees seem to express their relief that October finally arrived. Though their leaves are curling from desperate dryness, the colors are slowly coming with as much hopefulness of cooler temperatures as we feel! I can't yet break out all the socks, boots, & sweaters but I can at least enjoy fall coffee flavors!

Looking back at the fall holidays and some of the amazing things they brought, here is a message to our partners from our friends at the Red Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center:

Shana Tova from all of us at Red Mountain Therapeutic Farm.

As we welcome the Jewish New Year, our hearts are with Israel.

We hope for a year of healing, safety and compassion, and for better, more peaceful years ahead. Together with your support, we hope to continue giving thousands of children an opportunity for good life, growth and hope. To be a safe place for them to rebuild trust, discover their strength, and believe in themselves. We are deeply grateful to have you as part of the Grofit family and to walk this journey together. Wishing you and your loved ones a healthy, peaceful and meaningful New Year.

From our Friday night group to Richard in Elat and Daniel's family in Judea, and as far away as pastors & leaders in India, the 7-night celebration of Sukkot, or Tabernacles, brought friends, family, and communities closer together to reset our hearts in gratitude and purpose. In India, Dass & his families met every evening with candle lighting, prayers, and communal meals provided for all. They continue to serve 103 children in the school with 7 teachers; youth do children’s bible outreach on Saturdays. The monthly pastors’ training continues with a recent 82 graduates completing course studies to be credentialed as pastors. Congratulations Dass, Ruth, Gideon, Joseph and all the Dominion KGF community!

From Eilot Region, Richard sent pictures of the first 'storm' of the new year...an awesome demonstration across the skies bringing the first rainfall to a thirsty land, weary from heat in more ways than temperatures alone.

And we're getting ready for some spiritual rain...

As I write, our annual CF Conference is filling up with leaders, parents, and some just looking for strategies to strengthen their community.

Are You Built to Flourish? This year's enriching content -

Healthy Hearts. Strong Homes. Connected Communities.

Sessions include all this and more:

  • Flourishing in Spiritual & Family Relationships

  • Mental Health & Emotional Wellness

  • Creating Community That Lasts

  • Empowering Homes

  • Building a Stronger Us

We are all looking forward to words from those whose stories share keys to resilience & community and sessions that will change our trajectory from faltering to flourishing. We all feel the heat of exhaustion, of the stresses of everyday family life, daily work and caregiving, even of serving in our communities. We need a breath of fresh clean air in our lungs before tackling whatever is next, and a timeout to drink in the rainfall together. It's what communities and families should do, and God's the one Who suggested it (it wasn't a suggestion). His creation, His family rhythm, and seasons are still with us. Moses recorded what God modeled in Genesis (B'reshit) and His Words, His times, and His seasons are good and they are like the heavens and earth themselves, they won't pass away.

"He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness." - Acts 14:17

Best encouragement I've been given this month came from a seasoned mentor and friend: "You are ready for the rain, but you are not waiting for the rain. You are a rain maker."

I pray the drought in souls and in the soul of our nation soon be satisfied.

But no matter the season or weather, let's make some rain.
